Donations
The Whakatāne Horizon Energy Library is delighted to accept donations as gifts on the understanding that this:
- does not impose any obligations on the library system
- is not in exchange for a reduction in fees or other charges.
We are not always able to use items that are donated to us. In this case we will consider/advise of other options including:
- donating to Whakatāne Museum and Gallery
- donating to other libraries
- include items in our book sales thus indirectly assisting the library
- other appropriate forms of disposal.
Volunteers
All Whakatāne district libraries’ branches need volunteers.
Volunteers are a valuable resource for our libraries and without them we would be unable to provide some services.
You can help us by:
- shelving (just returned items)
- shelf checking that items are in correct order on the shelves
- book mending
- story telling
- delivering to and collecting items from house bound members.

Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library aim to support and promote the Whakatāne district libraries objectives and services in the community through:
- events
- author visits and readings
- short story competition
- story telling
- support library holiday programme.
