Rangitāiki Community Board Photography Challenge

The Rangitāiki Community Board (RCB) needs your help; we live in a beautiful area and we need some photographs to capture the essence of our ward.

"Waiho ake Ma te au o Rangitāiki koe e kawe atu ki tua o Pae" - "Let the flow, current of the Rangitāiki river, guide you to the horizon and beyond"

How to Enter

  1. Submit your photograph/s from Saturday, 1 August 2020 to close of business (5pm) on Friday, 28 August 2020. If your photograph is selected, you will be notified by the 14 September 2020. 
  2. Please provide the highest resolution, original version of your photos, in JPG or TIF format.  The recommended minimum resolution to be 2 megabyte (2 MB).
    1. Either: Post your photo via Instagram, using the hashtag #RCBpic     
    2. Or: Post your photo to the relevant ‘challenge post’ on the Rangitāiki Community Board Facebook page.
    3. Use the online form below.

Prizes

The RCB will select up to three photographs they feel best represent the ward. The submitters of these photographs will each win a $50 Gift Card and know their photography skills have been recognised by the Rangitāiki Community Board.  All decisions are final.

Eligibility

  • The following persons are not eligible to submit to this challenge:
    • (a) Elected Members and staff of the Whakatāne District Council 
    • (b) The immediate family of the Rangitāiki Community Board.
  • You must read and agree to the terms and conditions below.

Terms and Conditions

  • The image must not have been published previously in any other publication or website. 
  • The image must be your own work, must not be copied, must not contain any third-party materials and/or content that you do not have permission to use, must not include any trademarks, and must not show inappropriate or dangerous behaviour, or otherwise be obscene, defamatory, distasteful, offensive, or in breach of any applicable law or regulation, or in breach of any confidentiality obligations owed by you to third parties. 
  • Entrants must ensure consent by any identifiable individual who is used within their image. By entering your photo in this competition you have stated that you have consent from identifiable individuals (including parent/guardian of children under 13 years) and they are aware of the future use of the image. 
  • Entrants agree to release Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or any other media channel from any and all claims and demands arising out of, or in connection with, their participation in any Promotions or with any of the Prizes offered. 
  • The Rangitāiki Community Board and/or Whakatāne District Council reserves the right to exclude any entrant from participating at its sole discretion and also reserves the right to refuse to award a prize to an entrant who is in breach of these Terms and Conditions, gained an unfair advantage in participating, or has won by using fraudulent means.
  • The Rangitāiki Community Board and/or the Whakatāne District Council will not be liable for any loss, damage, costs (for instance incurred in accepting or redeeming a prize) or any injury whatsoever suffered by an entrant as a result of or in connection with the Competition.
  • These terms and conditions were set in June 2020 the Rangitāiki Community Board and/or  Whakatāne District Council reserves the right to amend or change them without notice at any time at its sole discretion, including extending, postponing or cancelling a Competition.
  • These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand and shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand Courts.

Future Promotion & Privacy

  1. By entering the challenge you, the entrant, agree that you have no rights to the Images, and all rights to the Images belong to the Rangitāiki Community Board and the Whakatane District Council. You understand that no fee will be paid to you for the use of the images.
  2. All information provided by the entrants will be collected, used, stored, disclosed and corrected in accordance with the Privacy Act 1993. All entrants have the right to access their information and request for any personal information to be corrected.
  3. I understand and agree that the Rangitāiki Community Board and/or Whakatane District Council may use the photos as promotional material and/or distribute the Images to a third party in the interests of promoting the Whakatane District Council.  Used for promotional purposes including (but not limited to) website promotions, advertising, posters, and brochures.
