By-election to be held for the Murupara subdivision of the Murupara Community Board

Following the resignation of Byron Rangiwai, a member of the Murupara subdivision of the Murupara Community Board, an extraordinary vacancy has occurred, and a by-election is now being held to fill the vacancy.

Nomination papers will be available from Thursday, 20 July from:

  • Administration Offices, Whakatāne District Council, Civic Centre, Commerce Street, Whakatāne
  • Murupara Service Centre & Library, Civic Square, Pine Drive, Murupara
  • On this website
  • By phoning 0800 922 822

To be eligible to stand for election, a candidate must be:

  • Enrolled as a Parliamentary elector
  • A New Zealand citizen

If more than one nomination is received by the close of nominations at noon on Thursday, 17 August 2017, a postal ballot will be held for the electors of the Murupara subdivision of the Murupara Community Board. The by-election will then conclude at noon Friday, 13 October 2017.

The preliminary electoral roll will be available for public inspection between Thursday, 20 July 2017 and Thursday, 17 August 2017 at the above locations.
