Summer Student Programme

Whakatāne District Council’s Summer Student Programme is an outstanding opportunity for anyone who is enrolled in tertiary study and wants to build real-life experience, learn new skills and be part of a great team.

Take your learning to the next level this summer. And get paid for it!

Our Summer Student Programme is now open for applications and we’re looking forward to hearing from willing students who are keen to help us develop and deliver on a range of projects that serve the communities of the Whakatāne District.

One of our five key values is Toitū te Taumata - We're always learning and improving. We know how important it is to learn as we go, and we support an environment where shared learning helps us all to improve. What better way to support your learning journey than getting hands-on experience while making new friends in New Zealand’s sunniest spot.

What can I expect?

  • A 12-week programme where you’ll receive on-the-job support and training
  • Opportunities include working in ICT Services, Libraries, Museums and Three Waters Assets.
  • You'll be part of a professional team, where you’ll learn to navigate the working environment using your initiative

How to apply

Applications are closed for our 2022/23 Summer Student Programme.
