Brookfields Lawyers has taken up the naming sponsorship for the main exhibition gallery at Te Kōputu a te whanga a Toi – the Whakatāne Library and Exhibition Centre.
The 10-year sponsorship arrangement will run through until late-2028 and will contribute $5,000 a year to support exhibitions activities and the renewal of the gallery's highly-specialised display equipment.
Brookfields Lawyers Board Chairman, Andrew Green says the sponsorship is a natural fit for the Auckland-based company, which has a number of clients in the eastern Bay of Plenty and a longstanding relationship as a trusted adviser to the Whakatāne District Council.
"Brookfields has a strong commitment to community support and to promoting access to arts and culture, so when the opportunity arose to sponsor the Brookfields Lawyers Gallery, it was simply too good to miss,” he says. “We’re keen to take up Te Kōputu’s invitation to utilise this wonderful space from time to time for hosted functions and exhibition previews and we’re particularly looking forward to seeing the nationally-recognised Molly Morpeth Canaday Award exhibition early next year."
Whakatāne District Mayor Tony Bonne says Brookfield’s generosity is greatly appreciated. "Te Kōputu is a phenomenally popular community facility and this very welcome sponsorship will help the exhibitions team ensure that the facility continues to maintain the very high standards visitors from near and far have come to expect."
