Applications for the current round of Whakatāne District Creative Communities Scheme Funding close on Friday, 12 May 2017, and the Chair of the Assesment Committee, Kay Boreham, is encouraging anyone considering an application to get in touch.
"Creative New Zealand provides around $28,000 to be distributed via the local Creative Communities Scheme (CCS) each year, and applications are called in May and December. Time is fast running out for the latest round, but if you’re part way through the paperwork, or have a project you’ve been mulling over for a while, please sure you get an application in to our administrator at the Whakatāne District Council by 5 pm Friday."
"There are three categories in the Scheme," she says. “Participation, which covers projects that will create opportunities for local communities to engage with and participate in the arts; diversity, for projects that will support the diverse arts and cultural traditions of local communities; and last but not least, a category for projects that will enable and encourage young people under 18 years of age to engage with and actively participate in the arts."
Anyone who wants to apply should contact Janie Storey, Council’s Administration Officer Community, on 07 306 0500.
