Ken Bannan has been elected unopposed to the Murupara Community Board after nominations for a by-election closed yesterday.
Mr Bannan was the only person nominated for the community board’s Galatea-Waiōhau Subdivision.
The position was made vacant by the resignation of Shaun Bicknell, who has left the district.
Nominations for the by-election opened on 13 July and closed at midday yesterday. [10 August]
Since Mr Bannan was the only person nominated, he was declared to have been elected without the need for voting.
Galatea-Waiōhau is one of the board’s three subdivisions, alongside Murupara and Te Urewera.
The board’s vision is to empower and actively strengthen its communities, which include people living in Waiohau, Galatea, Murupara, Te Whāiti, Minginui and Ruatāhuna.
