The Whakatāne District Library is inviting all children from ages five to 12 to take part in the “Wild about Reading” summer reading programme. This is a free programme to promote books and reading, and runs during the school holiday period.
Registration is now underway, and Library staff are urging people to get in quick to secure a place on this popular programme.
Public Programmes Officer Anneke Philps says participants can register and collect their information folders from the Whakatāne Library and start collecting prizes. “All that is needed is for one member of the family to have an active library card, so books can be borrowed during the programme,” she says.
“If you would like to become a member of the library, there is no fee. We just need two forms of identification – one a photo ID, and the other one needs to have your name and current address printed on it, such as a power bill.”
Other additional activities are planned throughout January, including a return of the fabulous ‘reading dogs’, a Games Day, Pokemon Hunt, and Escape Room Challenge.
