The Annual Residents Survey project for 2013 is underway

This is a telephone survey of 300 respondents from across the District. It covers the community’s level of satisfaction with a broad spectrum of Council services and facilities. It also provides an opportunity to gauge the community’s view on some  specific proposals.

For example, in this survey we are asking the respondents about their views on the following:

  • Reducing the cost of the waste disposal activity by setting up centralised drop-off points for recycling, rather than kerbside collection.
  • Similarly, reducing the cost of the waste disposal activity by setting up a greenwaste processing plant where the public can take their greenwaste rather than kerbside collection and disposal out of the district.
  • The level of support for the current representation arrangements.
  • The level of support for the establishment of Maori seats on Council.
  • The degree to which Council should support development opportunities including a retirement complex, hotel/conference facilities and a marina.

The fieldwork (telephone interviews) component of the survey will take place in late May (actually starts this weekend 18-19 May)  to early June with the final findings expected to be available by end June.

The postal survey for consents and compliance services will also be conducted again this year. This is distributed to users of consents and compliance services from the past year. The final findings of this survey will be available by end July.

The results of both surveys will be presented to Council once available.
