With Christmas Day and New Year’s Day falling on a Wednesday this year, there will be changes to kerbside rubbish, recycling, and green waste collections for some residents.
If your usual collection day is Wednesday, your bins will be picked up three days later on Saturday, 28 December 2024, and Saturday, 4 January 2025. Collections on all other days will continue as normal. Please remember to put your bins out by 7.30 am on your collection day to ensure they’re picked up.
While these changes mean a slight delay for some collections, they are essential to allow our kerbside contractors to enjoy Christmas and New Year’s Day with their loved ones.
The festive season often creates extra waste, but small changes can make a big difference. Choose wrapping paper made from paper, as metallic, coated, or plastic options can't be recycled. Remove sellotape before recycling and consider saving wrapping paper to reuse next year. Save your Christmas cards to make gift tags for next year.
Minimising Christmas waste not only helps protect the environment but also reduces holiday clutter. Sorting waste correctly ensures recyclable materials stay out of landfills, making a significant positive impact.
