Horomanga Stream bridge to close for repairs

The Horomanga Stream bridge on Troutbeck Road, Galatea, will be closed to all traffic for at least three months from mid-March.

The northern bridge abutment was extensively damaged by floodwaters generated by ex-tropical Cyclone Debbie in April 2017 and access since then has been via a Bailey bridge structure. Following an engineering assessment of repair options, a strengthened abutment will be constructed and streambank works undertaken to channel future flood flows.

Road closure signage will be in place throughout the closure, with a clearly marked traffic detour via Horomanga, Galatea and Haumea Roads. Nearby residents will also be notified of the closure timing via a letter-drop.
