Health and Safety Workshop for event organisers

The Whakatāne District Council is inviting all Council venue users and event organisers to a workshop on the new Health and Safety Act 2015.

The workshop will be facilitated by Gwendoline Keel, a senior associate with Simpson Grierson, who specialises in the legal issues associated with entertainment and venue management, as well as the development, licensing and hosting of major events.

Gwen will deliver a brief seminar on how recent changes to the Health and Safety Act will affect events businesses and activities. This will be followed by updates from the Council’s Events and Venues team in relation to the Health and Safety documentation required when hiring Council venues.

The workshop is to be held on Tuesday, 18 October 2016, from 5:15 to 7:30 pm at the Whakatāne District Council Chambers. Anyone interested in attending is asked to RSVP by Friday, 14 October to:
