Council elected members’ remuneration increased

The Remuneration Authority has determined that Whakatāne District Council elected members will receive an increase in remuneration for the 2018/2019 year.

Mayor Tony Bonne will receive $115,849 (less a full use vehicle allowance of $4,317.64), up from $105,480 in 2017/2018.

Deputy Mayor Judy Turner will receive $56,215, up from $52,913, committee chairpersons will be paid $46,847 (an increase of $2,752) and councillors will be paid $31,230 (an increase of $1,834).

Community Board Members also receive remuneration increases for the 2018/19 year. The Murupara Community Board Chairperson receives $7,830 and Murupara Community Board Members $3,915. The Rangitāiki Community Board Chairperson receives $10,157 and Rangitāiki Community Board Members $5,079. The Tāneatua Community Board Chairperson receives $7,830 and Tāneatua Community Board Members $3,915; and the Whakatāne-Ōhope Community Board Chairperson receives $16,981, while Whakatāne-Ōhope Community Board Members receive $8,490.

The new remuneration scales took effect from 1 July 2018.
