Abandoned Murupara properties for sale

The forthcoming sale by tender of two abandoned Murupara properties presents an opportunity for real estate investors. The properties have been declared abandoned by the Rotorua High Court and have therefore been cleared of all rates arrears.

Whakatāne District Council has opened a tender process for the sale of the two neighbouring residential properties with disused homes on 713 m² and 718 m² sites.

The Council anticipates the opportunity may be of particular interest to neighbours wanting to increase the size of their existing property, or those seeking to build or renovate on a reasonably-sized, well-situated urban section.

Whakatāne District Council Acting General Manager Finance, Philip Jones, says that the properties are being offered on the open market for sale by tender and prospective purchasers are provided the opportunity to tender for either, or both of the properties.

“The capital value of each property is currently $6,000 and realistic reserve prices have been set, so they are likely to sell at very affordable prices,” Mr Jones says. “However, both properties will require some significant work to renovate them to their full potential.”

Mr Jones encourages anyone interested in purchasing the Murupara properties to visit the Council’s website for the information memorandum and terms and conditions of tender documents.

“The properties will also be listed on the Trade Me website and advertised in local papers across the Bay of Plenty,” Mr Jones says.

Tenders will close at 4:00 pm on Friday 19 July 2013. Information packs are also available from the Whakatāne District Council’s Commerce Street office in Whakatāne and the Murupara Service Centre on Pine Street, Murupara.
