Highway bridge inspections - expect minor delays

Minor traffic delays are expected across the Bay of Plenty next week as a result of inspection work on highway bridges. NZTA will be carrying out inspections on selected bridges until Friday, 28 June.

Bridges will be inspected in the following order, starting from Monday, 24 June:

  • SH30 Rangitaiki River Bridge
  • SH2 Waiotahi Bridge
  • SH2 Waioeka Opotiki Bridge

NZTA will put in place temporary speed limits during the inspections, and manual stop/go traffic management will be used to direct vehicles around inspection areas.

Inspections are carried out as part of NZTA's regular bridge inspection programme. The work is weather dependent. In areas with high traffic volumes, inspections will take place between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm to reduce impact on peak traffic periods.

NZTA is confident delays will be minimal and cause only minor disruptions.

More information on the timing of inspections is available at NZTA's website or by calling 0800 4HIGHWAYS (0800 44 44 49).
