Following insufficient nominations at the recent triennial elections held on 12 October 2013, by-elections are now being held for the Ōhope Beach Community Board (three vacancies) and the Murupara (Murupara Subdivision) Community Board (one vacancy) of the Whakatāne District Council.

Nomination papers are available from Monday 18 November 2013 from:

• Administration Offices, Whakatāne District Council, Civic Centre, Commerce Street, Whakatāne
• Murupara Library and Service Centre, Civic Square, Murupara

To be eligible to stand for election, a candidate must be:

• Enrolled as a Parliamentary elector anywhere in New Zealand
• A New Zealand citizen

If more than the required number of nominations are received by the close of nominations (noon on Monday, 16 December 2013), a postal ballot for electors in these community boards will conclude at noon on Tuesday, 11 February 2014.
