Open days to promote awareness of the proposed Bunyan Rd masterplan development

Open days are to be held at the Whakatāne Visitor Information Centre on Friday and Saturday this week to update the public on the proposed residential, retirement village and marine precinct development at Bunyan Road in Whakatāne.

The proposal could see the development of two adjacent, Whakatāne District Council-owned properties at 60 and 77 Bunyan Road into a major residential subdivision and retirement village facility, with an associated marine precinct. Hopper Developments, in conjunction with Whakatāne Marina Limited and the Council, is currently conducting a feasibility study, which is expected to determine whether and when the proposal would proceed.

Representatives of the three organisations will be on hand at the open days to explain the proposed development and outline the potential economic and community benefits. The community are encouraged to attend and provide feedback as to the type of facilities they would like to see incorporated in the development.

Any interested members of the public are invited to attend between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Friday, or between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm on Saturday.
