Nominations closed at noon on Monday, 16 December 2013 for two Whakatāne District Council by-elections.
Following insufficient nominations at the triennial elections held 12 October, by-elections are being held on 11 February 2014. Community boards participating in the by-election and their relevant nominees are listed below.
Murupara Community Board - Murupara Subdivision (one vacancy)

A postal ballot for respective electors will commence on Monday 20 January 2014 with the delivery of voting documents.
Voting documents can be returned by post or hand delivered to:
- Administration Offices, Whakatāne District Council (Civic Centre, Commerce Street, Whakatāne)
- or to the Murupara Library and Service Centre (Civic Square, Murupara)
Voting opens Monday, 20 January 2014. The electoral officer must receive all votes by noon on Tuesday, 11 February 2014.
A person can apply to enrol as either a residential or ratepayer elector up to and including Monday 10 February 2014 – the day before the close of voting.
