Celebrate New Zealand Music Month at Te Kōputu

Te Kōputu a te whanga a Toi - the Whakatāne Library and Exhibition Centre - celebrates New Zealand Music Month with a free concert by local musician Greg Malcolm on Sunday, 25 May 2014.

Mr Malcolm, who recently returned to Whakatāne with his family, has toured the world with his music and is an essential part of the band Surfing USSR. An accomplished guitarist and composer, Mr Malcolm’s unique approach to music has fuelled his reputation as an innovator who has sparked interest nationally and internationally.

His Te Kōputu show will see him performing solo, simultaneously playing multiple guitars, in what Mr Malcolm describes as being “somewhere between kinetic art, plate spinning and guitar playing.”

He has represented New Zealand at music festivals throughout the world, and now Whakatāne residents can see this talented performer up close and personal in an informal setting.

Mr Malcolm will be performing at Te Koputu from 11:00am – 12:00pm on Sunday, 25 May 2014. Admission is free.
