Tree removal for Wainui Road

Tree removal work will commence on Wainui Road on Wednesday, 5 November 2014. The work will extend from Te Kooti Road through to Tauwhare Pā and will take approximately four weeks to complete. The road will remain open during that time, but temporary closures of up to 15 minutes can be expected at times.

The work is part of a wider project that aims to improve road safety on Wainui Road, including road widening, the installation of guard rails, additional line marking and skid resistance monitoring.  Though a temporary speed reduction will be in place on the western section of Wainui Road during the peak summer season, no permanent reduction is planned at this time. That situation will be reviewed once the effectiveness of the planned improvements has been evaluated.

The remaining Wainui Road tree removal work required, from Te Kooti Road through to the district boundary (near Stanley Road), is expected to be completed in February 2015.
