Whakatāne District Council is working with local dog park enthusiasts to develop a dog park at Warren Park, Whakatāne. The proposed 4200 square metre dog park facility will comprise two fully-fenced and secured exercise areas to accommodate large and small dog exercise activities at the southern end of Warren Park. Additional features to enhance the facility include a large shade sail covering two separate picnic areas, water fountains and drinking bowls, and lighting to extend the hours of enjoyment. Creative landscaping in the form of large earth mounds and dog exercise and agility equipment will also provide interest and excitement.
