Following the October 2023 general election resulting in a change in central government, the reform programmes established under the previous government are taking a new direction. While the repeals of the reform programmes largely indicate a return to the pre-existing legislation for now, the challenges that the reforms were responding to still need to be addressed and require long-term solutions. As such, change continues to be necessary and further reform is expected thereby resulting in continued uncertainty.

Like councils around the country, we continue to keep a close eye on any new direction for the reforms, taking opportunities to influence the direction, and making sure we are well placed to implement change.
