Monitoring has started across the Bay of Plenty and Lakes districts for signs of the potentially toxic algal blooms which can affect the lakes and rivers.

Planned Muriwai Drive maintenance and improvement works are scheduled to begin in February 2017, at a total cost of $1.2 million.

Following the recent traffic flow trial at the Landing Road Bridge in Whakatāne, the successful teardrop roundabout configuration is to be reinstated, as from 7 am on Friday, 9 December.

A further 1000 metres of the coastal section of Ngā Tapuwae o Toi Walkway is set to be upgraded. Work will be undertaken on the track between Ōtarawairere Bay and the Kōhī Point outlook, beginning after Christmas 2016.
