The Engineering Code of Practice sets out the engineering standards and guidelines that apply for building and construction in the Whakatāne District.
Objectives of the Code
- Ensure that engineering services the Council is, or may be, responsible for in future are designed and installed to the appropriate standards
- Provide guidelines for designers, including acceptable solutions and local information
- Set out a process for inspection, maintenance, reporting and certification of engineering services, and qualifications of personnel required for this
- Define the requirements for engineering services, which the Council will assume the management and maintenance of after the development is completed
Engineering standards and the District Plan
The Code is to be used in conjunction with relevant New Zealand standards on land development and subdivision engineering, as well as others stipulated in the introduction. Read the Code to find out how it relates to the District Plan and to other New Zealand standards.
