Finish the school holidays on a high by wrapping them up with the Active-Eight Whānau Bike Day.
“If you and the tamariki love cycling, a free sausage, free coffee for the adults, and the chance to win some major prizes - this is the school holiday event for you,” says Whakatāne Blue Light Co-Ordinator Richard Hamer.
“Together with Whakatāne District Council we’ve partnered with several community groups and businesses to provide eight cycle stations and sponsored some major prizes like an adult e-Bike, e-scooter and BMX as well as spot prizes. We’ll follow this up with a fun cycling tour around Whakatāne.”
To win the prizes, people must tick off all eight stations to be in the draw.
Stations include truck safety and awareness, the chance to try out some e-scooters and cargo bikes, cycle skills and free helmet and bike checks. The free sausage sizzle and coffees on offer will keep whānau fueled.
Active-Eight will be held Friday, 14 October at Rex Morpeth Park kicking off at 10am. Prizegiving will be at 12pm.
“Bring your whanau, bring your bikes, this will be a great day,” said Mr Hamer.
Active-Eight is proudly supported by Whakatāne District Council in partnership with Bike Whakatāne Trust, Whakatāne Blue Light, Te Puna Ora o Mataatua, Cycling Without Age, Cycling Action Network, Waiotahi Contractors and VMac Hire.
