Whakatāne District Council seeks to make appointments to the Plains Water Supply Advisory Board and the Grow Whakatāne Advisory Board.

Plains Water Supply Advisory Board

The Whakatāne District Council seeks to appoint up to a maximum of six community representatives who can advise the Council on the operation of the Plains Water Supply Scheme. The Council has resolved to appoint members to the Board from persons who are users of the Plains Water Scheme.

Grow Whakatāne Advisory Board

The Grow Whakatāne Advisory Board seeks to appoint up to two outside persons to the Board. The Board is seeking persons with proven commercial expertise, relevant governance experience and an interest in promoting economic growth within the Whakatāne District.

The Grow Whakatāne Advisory Board has arisen from the Grow Whakatāne Strategy developed in early 2013. The purpose of the Board is to provide advice and guidance to both Council and staff on strategic initiatives. The Board will focus their attention on those Council assets with a commercial imperative. This will include the Airport, Port and Harbour, Harbour Endowment Property, Divestment and development of strategic landholdings, and implementation of the Town Vision Strategy. The Board will also concern themselves with broader economic and business development opportunities as they arise.

Membership of the Grow Whakatāne Advisory Board is Mayor Bonne, Councillors Sheaff, Jarrett, and Pullar as Members with Tony de Farias as the Independent Chairperson. The Grow Whakatāne Advisory Board can appoint up to two further outside persons to the Board.

Terms of Appointment and Expressions of Interest

The term of appointment is for three years for each of these Boards to coincide with the 2013-16 triennium.
