Appointment of External Persons - Commercial Advisory Board

The Whakatāne District Council is seeking people with proven commercial expertise and an entrepreneurial background to contribute towards achieving the Council’s broad economic and business development objectives.

Two external appointees are sought for the Commercial Advisory Board, which provides strategic advice on:

  • Council’s harbour lease land portfolio
  • The development of ports and harbour assets
  • The development of the Whakatāne Airport
  • The development of any other Council owned assets with a commercial imperative
  • Purchase, divestment and development of strategic landholdings

The Mayor, two Councillors, and an independent Chairperson will also sit on the Board. A selection panel comprised of the Mayor, Chief Executive, and Chairperson of the Board will assess expressions of interest, appoint the external members, and negotiate remuneration. 

The term of appointment is for three years, to coincide with the Council’s 2019-22 triennium.
