The Whakatāne Aquatic and Fitness Centre will be closed for maintenance on Friday, 22 August 2014. The closure is to allow contractors to replace a hot water cylinder and will also give staff the opportunity to undertake a raft of other maintenance procedures in preparation for the busy summer season.

Acting Manager of the Centre, Nicola Olding, says that while the closure is regrettable it makes sense to complete all required maintenance in one time window. “It ultimately causes less inconvenience and is more cost-effective to undertake the work over one full day,” Ms Olding says. “The cylinder replacement alone requires around 12 hours to remove and refit, and we want the Centre in top shape for summer.”

The Centre will return to normal business hours from Saturday, 23 August.
