Whakatāne District Council has prepared a summary of decisions requested in submissions (summary of submissions) on Proposed Plan Change 8 (Huna Road). Further submissions are now sought on the submissions that have been made, as provided for in clauses 7 and 8 of Schedule 1, Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA).

Further submissions close 5pm Friday 31 May 2024.

The following persons may make a further submission:

  • the local authority itself.

A further submission may only express support or opposition to a matter raised in an original submission (made under clause 6, Schedule 1). It must not raise new points of submission. Further submissions must be in the prescribed format of Form 6 of the RMA. Copies of form are available from the Council offices and libraries, and Council’s website.

Further submissions can be made using one of the following options:

Deliver:      c/o Policy Planner, Whakatāne District Council Customer Service Centres at

Online at:   whakatane.govt.nz/plan-change-8

A copy of the further submission must be sent to the original submitter within five working days of lodging the further submission with Whakatāne District Council (clause 8A, Schedule 1 RMA).

After the further submission period ends the planner will review and analyse all submissions and further submissions. Council will then hold a hearing for the Proposed Plan Change to consider submissions that have been lodged and issue decisions on the matters raised. Anyone who makes a submission and indicated that they wish to be heard will have the right to attend the hearing and present their submission. On receiving notice of a decision on their submission, any person who disagrees with, or is dissatisfied with, the decision made, may appeal the decision to the Environment Court for further consideration.
