The Matatā Papakāinga Komiti Incorporated and Whakatāne District Council have confirmed that a settlement has been reached with regard to the costs associated with the Komiti’s successful Environment Court appeal against the resource consent and land designations for the proposed Matatā Wastewater Scheme.
The $55,000 settlement includes GST and equates to approximately one-third of the Komiti’s legal and associated costs.
Both parties have also committed to a continuing dialogue about a potential papakāinga (village) development on Matatā Lot 6A. All other terms and conditions of the agreement remain confidential.
