Expressions of interest are invited from suitable persons for consideration for appointment as the Commissioner and/or List Members of the Shared Eastern Bay of Plenty District Licensing Committee. Applications close 26 July 2013.
The Eastern Bay Shared District Licensing Committee will have responsibility for all local decisions on applications made under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012, including:
- Premises licence applications, renewals, variations, suspensions and cancellations
- New applications and renewals of manager’s certificates
- Applications for temporary authority
- Special licences
These are regulatory decision making roles. Your strengths will lie in your ability to function at a strategic and independent level, plus you will have relevant experience. Members need to be independent of the alcohol industry and have no current involvement or connections.
The following attributes are sought:
- Strong relationship skills
- The ability to represent the wider public interest
- Understanding of governance issues
- A high standard of personal integrity
- Time available to undertake duties
- No conflict or perceived conflict of interest, including being a current: Police Officer, Medical Officer of Health, Licensing Inspector or employee of a territorial authority
The following additional attributes are sought for the Commissioner position:
- Chair experience
- Legal and/or hearing experience
- A person of good community standing
Appointments will be subject to satisfactory police and reference checks. All appointees will be required to undertake training before commencing duties as from 18 December 2013.
