Road reconstruction and kerb/channel works commenced on part of Hillcrest Road in Whakatāne on Wednesday.

This programmed maintenance work is being carried out by Higgins Contractors Bay of Plenty and is scheduled to extend through until 17 March. Work will be undertaken between 7 am and 6 pm each day, weather permitting.

Access to the southern end of Seaview Road (from Hillcrest Road) will be closed at times during the construction, and Seaview Road, Hurinui Avenue, Carling Road and Toi Street are all expected to be affected by the works at various times.

Traffic control will be in place and delays can be expected, so commuters are advised to use Gorge Road whenever possible.

The Whakatāne District Council apologises for any inconvenience experienced by residents in the affected area.
