The Lake Aniwhenua Reserve will be closed to camping activities from 25 February to 5 March 2016 inclusive to allow essential maintenance and upgrading works to be carried out safely.
The planned work will be undertaken while the lake level has been lowered for power scheme maintenance purposes. During the closure period, the Bay of Plenty Regional Council and Whakatāne District Council will work with Nova Energy, the local community, and Iwi to achieve the following improvements:
- Lake edge sediment removal and campground erosion protection
- Jetty maintenance
- Weed management
This closure period is dependent on work progress and may be extended, if necessary.
