The Murupara Aquatic Centre will open its 2018/19 season with a day of family fun on Saturday, 20 October.

Whakatāne District Council Aquatics and Recreation Manager Lee Colquhoun says the facility will be open from 10 am to 6 pm over the holiday weekend, with Saturday's opening highlighted by heaps of games, a free sausage sizzle and the availability of the pool’s giant inflatable from 11 am till 3 pm.

"The season opening is always a great day, so fingers-crossed the weather treats us well and people can get out and enjoy themselves," he says. "Entry to the pool is free, there are barbecues available for use, and our friendly Murupara aquatics team will be on hand to ensure everyone stays safe and has a great time."
