Murupara community day to focus on healthy living

The next Healthy Homes Murupara Community Day is on Saturday, 26 August 2017 from 12–2 pm outside the Murupara Library, and it will be focussing on Healthy Living.

There will be giveaways of DIY kits, including products that help reduce drafts around your home, that are free to the first 80 people to attend, as well as a wild food cooking demonstration with pheasant, turkey, rabbit, venison, goat and yummy deserts, with free samples on offer.

Whakatāne District Council Community Development Advisor Lorreen Hartley is urging the pubic to get involved and find out about ways to keep their homes warm and their families healthy. “The Healthy Homes Project has been an exciting project to be involved in,” she says, “and the Murupara community do not want to miss out on these giveaways to make their homes healthier. It is also a great opportunity for the community to register for the Healthy Homes Project, which includes advice on insulation, maintenance assessments and Community Days.”

This event is brought to you by the Healthy Homes Project Murupara and Te Rūnanga O Ngāti Manawa, Whakatāne District Council, BayTrust, and the Eastern Bay Energy Trust. It is open to everyone, so come along for a great family day and learn how to make your home a warmer place.
