Work to upgrade sections of the Nga Tapuwae o Toi walking track and barrier rails between Ōhope Beach and Ōtarawairere Bay has been completed and is receiving praise from the public.
Whakatāne District Council Parks and Recreation Operations Co-ordinator, Paul Edhouse, says the scheduled contract site works have been completed. “We’ve also been able to carry out a considerable amount of additional work within the available budget, including some new boxed-step sections and improved viewing points,” Mr Edhouse says.
“We’re grateful for the public’s cooperation while the upgrades have been in progress,” he says. “The feedback we’ve received from users of the track has been very positive.”
