Whakatāne District Council is seeking applicants for representatives on the Commercial Advisory Board and the Audit and Risk Committee.
Audit and Risk Committee
The Whakatāne District Council is seeking a person with the skills and experience necessary to contribute to improved governance, performance and accountability.
As an external appointment to the Audit and Risk Committee, you would play an important role in ensuring that the organisation’s risk management, internal control and financial management practices, frameworks and processes are robust and appropriate to safeguard Council’s financial and non-financial assets.
The Audit and Risk Committee consists of the Mayor and ten Councillors, plus an external appointee. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor make recommendations to the Committee and negotiate and approve the remuneration for the appointed member. The term of appointment is for three years, to coincide with the Council’s 2016-19 triennium.

Commercial Advisory Board
The Whakatāne District Council is seeking people with proven commercial expertise and an entrepreneurial background to make a valuable contribution to achieving the Council’s broad economic and business development objectives. Up to three external appointees are sought for the newly-formed Commercial Advisory Board, which will provide advice on its strategic landholdings and on economic and business development opportunities.
The Mayor and two Councillors will also sit on the Board. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor make recommendations to the Board and negotiate and approve the remuneration for appointed Board members.
The term of appointment is for three years, to coincide with the Council’s 2016-19 triennium.

The expressions of interest period closes at 5 pm on Thursday, 1 December 2016. The Commercial Advisory Board will consider appointments at its first meeting, and the Audit and Risk Committee will consider an appointment at its meeting on 8 December 2016.
