Fulton Hogan Ltd has been contracted by Whakatāne District Council to carry out resurfacing work on Gateway Dr, McGarvey Rd, Mcalister St, Commerce St and Gorge Rd.
Subject to weather and other unforeseen circumstances, these streets will be stabilised (prepared) and resurfaced on the following dates:
- Stabilising - Sunday 6 September 2020, 7pm - 5am
- Resurfacing - Monday 7 September 2020, 3pm - 10pm
We aim to complete works near residential properties as early into the night shift as possible to avoid disruption.
We appreciate your help to protect your property and keep your children safe.
CARS - to prevent bitumen staining and other possible damage, please park your vehicle clear of the road by 7pm Sunday and 3pm Monday.
TRAFFIC - your street will remain open at all times and will be managed by temporary roadworks signage and 'STOP/GO' control people. Please follow all directions.
CHILDREN - are attracted to resurfacing work. For their own safety, please ensure they stand well back from the job while it’s in progress.
HEAVY MACHINERY MOVEMENT – during the stabilising operation there will be several truck movements and other heavy machinery operating, which may cause vibrations and noise on your property.
BITUMEN and ASPHALT- is very hot and 'sticky' in its early life, so please be careful that you do not get any on your shoes. Check your shoes before walking indoors to prevent bitumen from being carried on to floor.
SWEEPING – within seven days any loose chip will be removed by a suction-truck sweeper; however, until the remaining chip embeds there may still be loose chip present. Further sweeping may be undertaken.
