Show us GoPro action in the Eastern Bay and win!

It’s the perfect weather for getting out and about on the water and exploring the Whakatāne District this summer. Capture your experiences on your GoPro camera, and you could be in to win! Lazer Photos and Whakatāne District Council are running a GoPro video competition with $500 worth of prizes up for grabs.

Whakatāne District Council Promotions Officer Nicola Burgess says all you need to do is capture the action and the scenic highlights of the Eastern Bay with your GoPro Camera and submit them to Council’s Whakatastic Facebook page or the Lazer Photos Facebook page. “We’re hoping for some real action-packed material such as surfing, sailing, mountain-biking, kayaking, diving and fishing. We’re known for having a whole lot of great things to do, so let’s capture them on video,” Ms Burgess says. “We’ll use selected footage to create a promotional video to use at the Visitor Centre and on our tourism website, www.whakatane.com.”

Owners of Lazer Photos & Cameras Paul Wardlaw and Kendan Gibson say there’s no shortage of people with GoPro cameras these days. “They’re incredibly versatile, powerful cameras, and they’ve made it easier than ever to capture and share personal experiences,” Mr Wardlaw says. “We stock a range of GoPro cameras and accessories in our store, and we’re more than happy to show people what we have on offer.”

To enter the competition, simply create a one minute video of your summer adventures in the Eastern Bay and submit to the Whakatastic or Lazer Photos Facebook pages. The competition runs until Saturday, 28 February 2015. The winner, who will collect $500 worth of GoPro accessories, will be determined by a judging panel, along with the response each video gets on Facebook. For more information, call into Lazer Photos on The Strand in Whakatāne or visit Council’s Whakatastic Facebook page or the Lazer Photos Facebook page.
