Anyone looking for a fun and affordable way to celebrate Mum this Mother’s Day need look no further than the Whakatāne Aquatic Centre. The Whakatāne District Council is getting into the sentiment with a fun day out featuring free pool entry for all mums on Mother’s Day, Sunday 12 May.
Council Manager Aquatics and Recreation, Sarah Clarke, says the pools offer plenty of fun for families. “Mums with toddlers can enjoy our beach and play area, as well as the learners’ pool,” she says. “We’ve also got the action-packed option of the inflatable playground, the fitness option of the lap pool, or the relaxed option of our lovely heated spas. There’s something for everyone; especially Mum.”
The Whakatane Aquatic Centre will also be kicking off its Family Fun Days on Sunday 26 May. Ms Clarke says Family Fun Days will run on the last Sunday of every month from 10am to 4pm. “Families can enjoy our toddler pools, water features, spa pools and hydroslide,” she says. “We’ll also have our inflatable playground in action for Family Fun Days.”
The Aquatic Centre will offer a special pool and hydroslide rate for Family Fun Days, with children paying $5.00 (normally $6.70) and adults $7.00 ($8.50).
Ms Clarke says she’s also offering a fundraising opportunity for community groups that may like to run a sausage sizzle on Family Fun Days. “I’m keen to hear from any community groups that may be interested in raising a few dollars, whether they are sports teams, or voluntary organisations,” she says. “We are looking forward to getting our community active and enjoying the great asset we have in the Whakatane Aquatic Centre.”
