Water supply interruption scheduled for Matatā

A planned water supply interruption in Matatā on Saturday will allow the commissioning of a new water main in Pollen Street. The shutdown will affect all properties in Pollen Street, St John Street, Fairfield Lane, Marae Lane (including Rangitihi Marae), properties at the northern end of Manawahe Road, and properties at the eastern ends of Wilson Street, Nesbitt Street and Heale Street. The shutdown will take place between 9 am and 12 pm on Saturday, 8 December.

Before the water shutdown, residents are encouraged to fill their baths with water for general use and have a few water bottles available for drinking water. Toilet cisterns can be bucket-filled with water from baths.

Mains flushing will be carried out following reinstatement of full water pressure, to remove any entrapped air or sediment in the line. However, in cases where private pipes are old and/or rusted (e.g. galvanised iron), residents are also encouraged to run an outside tap for at least 1 - 2 minutes to dislodge any sediment and remove entrapped air in water lines prior to using any inside taps.

The Council apologises for any inconvenience caused by the service disruption and thanks consumers for their cooperation.
