Work to begin on Otumahi (Paul Road) water supply

Waiotahi Contractors will be undertaking work along Paul Road, MacDonald Road, Western Drain Road, and the Kiwi Rail Corridor along SH2 up to Edgecumbe to install the water delivery pipeline to Edgecumbe.

This is the first stage of Whakatāne District Council’s plan to develop a new water source for Edgecumbe and Te Teko water supplies. The project will also see works carried out on the bore site at 124 Paul Road to construct pump station, tank and treatment facilities, as well as the upgrade of the Waikohua Puna Wai (Tahuna Road) bore, pump station and treatment facilities.

The aim of the project is to isolate Edgecumbe and Te Teko townships and some of the neighbouring areas from Johnson Road and Braemar Sources and to supply these areas from the Otumahi (Paul Road) and Waikohua Puna Wai (Tahuna Road) sources, which meet the Drinking Water Standards for New Zealand.

The works are scheduled to begin on 9 January and should be completed by 30 June 2017.
