Resealing work on Ōhope Road will commence Tuesday, 20 January 2015. The work is expected to take three to four days, and a reduced speed limit will be in place for that period, and a number of days afterwards, to ensure the repairs are given the opportunity to bed-in effectively. Motorists are also asked to drive with restraint until the new seal has consolidated.
Commuters are advised to allow additional time for their trips between Whakatāne and Ōhope during that period and to take extra care negotiating corners while the road surface is affected by loose metal. Motorists are also advised to increase their normal following distance to avoid the possibility of stone damage to windscreens and paintwork.
This work is being undertaken at the contractor’s expense due to the failure of the previous reseal during its warranty period.
