Your chance to serenade the Library

As a part of its school holiday programme, the Whakatāne District library is inviting young musicians aged 11-16 years to come up with a song about the library and what it means to them. Entries for the competition open on Friday, 23 September, and Public Programmes Officer Anneke Philips says children can use any instruments and musical forms they want.

“We have quite a mix of events for the school holiday programme, all with a musical theme, and this one is a great chance for children and their families to get creative,” she says.

“Load your song on a USB, stick and be sure to include your name, age and contact details. Drop the USB off at the Library by 5 pm on Thursday, 6 October for a chance at winning an MP3 player, movie vouchers and pizza vouchers. The song must be about the library and can’t contain any explicit language.”
