Summer reading at your local library

The Whakatāne District Library is inviting all children from ages five to 12 to take part in the “Sail into Summer Reading” programme. This is a free programme to promote books and reading, and it runs for four weeks from Thursday, 5 January to Thursday, 26 January 2017.

Pre-registration starts on 15 December, and Library staff are urging people to get in quick to secure a place on this popular programme.

“Participants should collect their information folders from the Whakatāne Library on the first day of the programme — Thursday, 5 January,” says Anneke Philps, Public Programmes Officer at the Library. “If your folder is not collected and you haven’t contacted the Library by Saturday, 7 January, your place will go to the next person on the waiting list.”
