A sunny November helped Whakatāne further extend its lead in the 2013 Sunshine Race.
As of 30 November, Whakatāne had 2539 hours of sunshine for the year, having gained another 293 sunshine hours through November. Second place contender, New Plymouth, is now 153 hours behind compared to 147 hours in October.
Whakatāne is comfortably in the lead now; the city would have to receive almost no sunshine for the entire month of December for it to slip into second place.
