Elected members’ remuneration reviewed

The New Zealand Remuneration Authority has reviewed and finalised remuneration for local government elected members for the 2014-2015 financial year.

The Authority last year moved from the “pool” system that had been in place since 2003 to a new approach which involves setting the remuneration for the Mayor, Councillors and Community Board members. Each Council then recommends further remuneration for Councillors undertaking additional responsibilities, such as committee chairpersons.

The remuneration review determinations for the Whakatāne District are as follows.
