The Murupara pool will commence the summer season on Saturday, 25 October 2014 with a “Pool Party” open day. The pool will open to the public from 10 am – 6 pm with entry being a gold coin donation.

An inflatable playground will be operational from 11 am – 4 pm, and staff from the Whakatāne Aquatics Centre will be in attendance for most of the day.

Garner Gulliver, Manager of the Whakatāne Fitness and Aquatic Centre, says the opening day will be a great event for all the family and urges everyone to come out and support the Pool Party. “We are looking forward to a great summer at the pool,” Mr Gulliver says, “and people are welcome to bring a picnic and refreshments to enjoy. The Murupara pool has proven very popular with the community, and with the added attraction of an inflatable playground it is a great chance to celebrate with friends and family.”

The Murupara pool’s new opening hours will be 6 am – 6pm weekdays and 10 am – 6 pm weekends/public holidays; the pool is closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
